"What if a building were more like a nest? If it were, it would be made out of local, abundant materials. It would be specific to its site and climate. It would use minimal energy but maintain comfort. It would last just long enough and then would leave no trace."
Jeanne Gang, designer of the tallest building in the world as a female architect.
This is how I feel about everything surrounding us and what we utilize in our daily lives. From buildings to vehicles, appliances, devices and toys, if we treat our environment as a “nest,” our world will be a better place to live in.
Hello and welcome to my website!
My name is Yusti, I am a high school student in Wisconsin, and creating is my passion.
From a young age, I have been a zealous artist, painting and drawing anything from landscapes to animals, designing books and cards, crocheting toys, and crafting costumes. While expanding my skills in traditional art, I began discovering the digital world. The possibilities there were fascinating. My interests quickly extended to digital design, photography, and filmmaking. When I joined the non-profit organization CFAM Children’s Film Academy, I learned the art of film production, screenwriting, and directing. With the help of a talented crew, I was able to turn my script “Thar Be Pirates” into an IMDb-listed, award-winning short film.
I have always been very interested in architecture, as well as exterior and interior design. As a child, for years I created my own digital structures in Bloxburg. Later, I participated in a Pre-College Architectural Program, HiArch, at the University of Illinois, Chicago, acquiring skills in Rhino 3D and Physical Scale Modeling. Environmental school projects made me curious about sustainable architecture and structural elements like green roofs that benefit the environment just as much as humans.
In high school, I learned the basics of programming and became interested in app design. I also took a course in woodworking, learning to use professional tools and machinery while drafting and manufacturing custom items.
Being raised trilingually and attending a Two-Way-Immersion program K-12 in Spanish, I was continuously exposed to cultural diversity. It sparked my desire to explore the world and also helped me expand my creative horizon.
All my experiences and interests led me to a decision to study Mechanical Engineering. Using technology and creativity, I would like to solve real-life problems and contribute to the progressive and sustainable future of our society.
